Special Club releases are only produced in exceptional vintages. Whereas the 2009 release was predominately Chardonnay, the 2013 is a blend of 30% Chardonnay and 70% Pinot Noir. Aromas of fresh pastries, grilled hazlenuts and almonds lead into a palate that is complex, opulent and generous, with great minerality and finesse. The vibrancy of the excellent 2013 vintage is apparent, a real treat now but this will continue to develop and improve for many years to come. Average vine age of 30 years, with 60 months on lees and the dosage is 9.6g/l
This has a vibrant and attractive feel with preserved-lemon and gently chalky aromas, as well as crushed flowers. The palate has a smooth, zesty feel with some sorbet-like, nectarine character and a dry, even finish. 93pts James Suckling
