A blend of 50% Meunier and 50% Chardonnay from José Michel’s oldest vines which are more than 70 years old. Partially aged in oak casks, the wine shows floral, hazelnut and grilled almond aromas. The palate is rich and full, with fresh baked bread, cashew, and exotic fruit notes. Elegant, complex and very, very fine. It possesses a wonderful, textural mouthfeel, with great length and finish
José Michel exemplifies the heights which Moussy can attain, and his Spécial Club shows just how seamlessly meunier and chardonnay can marry together. The bright, juicy red cherries and strawberries of meunier carry a backdrop of mixed spice and an elegant lift of rose hip, while chardonnay heightens it gentle salty chalk mineral undertone and lemon and orange rind bite. The phenolic bitterness of the season has been well managed, and the finish carries very long, with the brioche and buttered croissant complexity of lees age bringing seamlessness and silky texture. 93pts TYson Stelzer 'Champagne Guide 2020-2021'
